A ministry of Genesis that provides holistic, cost-effective care and support to the HIV/AIDS infected and affected in the Ugu District of KwaZulu-Natal.
HIV/AIDS Programs
Our core operation is the Genesis Care Centre, a 40 bed inpatient HIV/AIDS palliative care facility. It offers patients intermediate level care between hospital and home care. It relieves pressure on both the hospitals and the patients’ families, ensuring patients get the care and support they need to recover or pass on with dignity. e addressing physical, spiritual, social and emotional needs.
Recently Genesis Care Centre has opened a Rehabilitation Centre which makes available occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy for resident patients. The Skills Development Program with its beadwork projects has also been initiated in response to a need for marketable skills and income generation for our patients.
Continuously caring for those suffering inevitably places emotional stress on the Genesis team. To prevent “burnout” and to provide the love and care that those furnishing love on a daily basis need, the Care For the Caregiver Program was established. Volunteers from the local community who are paired with our staff have been deeply touched by this need. They give richly of their time and material resources to offer support to our amazing staff at the Care Centre.
