Murchison Community Centre
The MCC seeks to bring a new hope to the local community by offering programmes aimed at enriching their bodies, minds and spirits through relevant activities offered at the centre on a regular basis.
Community Gym
The Murchison Gym is open to everyone aged 14 and older. A good selection of gym equipment including spinning bikes, free weights, and circuit machines is set up for a good work out, in a friendly environment.
Library
A small library has been established where young people can read novels and reference books.
Reading Room
A fun afternoon activity where primary school aged children can come every afternoon after school to do their homework, age relevant crafts/activities, educational games and just to be loved.
Teenage Groups
The Angels and Kings group are friendship groups that meet weekly to discuss age and gender related topics, build relationships and have fun together. This outreach gives us a valuable opportunity to build long-term relationships with youth, and walk alongside them in their journey into adulthood.
Community Vegetable Gardens
Local community members can grow vegetables, with the coaching of experienced farmers for food security in their homes.
Skills and Craft Groups
Ladies craft groups meet weekly to share skills and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Music Academy
To give young people the opportunity to learn an instrument, develop their talent; express themselves in a creative, music fashion, while learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Guitar lessons take place at the Murchison Centre in the afternoons for beginners and advanced youth group
Other Projects
HIV and aids testing and counseling services through the HCT programme at the Care Centre.
The Murchison Community Centre is one of the centre’s being established as a part of the vision of Genesis to more effectively take its programs into communities throughout the Ugu District. Together with our partner’s, Project Imagine and Go-Hungry campaign, the Genesis Murchison community centre is being developed to be a beacon of hope for our future generations.
