Genesis Murchison Community Centre

We run various programmes within MCC and they grow as we identify the need.

Who we Are

The MURCHISON Community Centre (MCC) was established in 2009, after we identified a need for intervention within the Murchison area. A number of services are in progress within this ministry and they grow as we identify the need.

MISSION

Our mission is to impower the community through biblical principles and making our services accessible to everyone in and around the area of Murchison. We aim to alleviate poverty and facilitate lasting changes in the lives of the most vulnerable children and families in this community. We are able to do this through building relationships that lay a foundation for healthy life choices, good values and a safe structured environment for both children and adults.

Our Programmes

Our programs are based on a holistic approach, for children, women and men of the community to become the agents of their own development and make sustainable progress in overcoming hunger, poverty and unemployment while bringing them closer to God.

Nutrition

Through the Go-hungry feeding scheme, we are able to reach a total of 235 children each afternoon and more during school holidays. This program is the backbone of MCC since it caters for a very important and much needed element in this community which is hunger and poverty.

Education

We provide educational afternoon programs to the children of the community which include basic English, maths, reading, we help them with home-works, projects, computer lessons, tutoring, mentorship, life skills and bible studies each afternoon.

The children are dressed in school uniforms, with some sitting cross-legged and others with legs extended. There are more people and trees visible in the background, and it is sunny with a bright sky.

Empowerment

We have a skills development centre that caters for the unemployed youth and adult of Murchison and the surrounding areas. Post Covid we have reached over 500 members of the community who now have a skill to open their own businesses or get employment.

Gardens / Grow Bags

Gardening is another awesome strategy to interact with the community members, laying a foundation for biblical teachings. We are grateful for organisations such as Back to Eden and West Wind Farm for the seedling donations, thus far we have 117 beneficiaries.

We also have outreach programs which focus on partnering with various stakeholders, schools and our social services team by hosting awareness’s, prayer walks, fun walks and support groups.
